Oh no! She's got her marijuana lighter!

In the study group's third year at Greendale, Troy and Abed move in together and throw a housewarming party at their new apartment. Britta brought with her not only a plant as a house warming gift but also a joint and her lighter to help get her through the night. When the roll of a Yahtzee die causes the creation of six diverging timelines, the lighter, along with a few other items, ended up playing significant roles in how each unfolded. Its first appearance was (from a production stand point) was in the Season Three episode "Remedial Chaos Theory". Its first mentioned appearance was in the Season Three episode "Competitive Ecology".
History[]
At the start of Troy and Abed's housewarming party, the pizza delivery guy arrives while they are about to start a game of Yahtzee. Since he couldn't be buzzed up, Jeff proposed that the roll of a die determine who would go downstairs to get the pizza. As Abed predicts, he inadvertently creates six different timelines. In each one of those scenarios Britta attempted to sing along to a song on her iPod, "Roxanne". In each instance Jeff shut her down causing her to retreat to the bathroom and light up a joint. In one timeline, Troy joined her in the bathroom after Jeff mocked his immaturity. Asserting his adulthood, he pulled out what looked to be a cigarette. Britta was about to use her lighter on it when it's revealed to be only candy. This leads to them having an intimate conversation which ultimately makes them fell better about themselves.

In another timeline, Troy doesn't join her in the bathroom and this time when she goes to light up a joint she is interrupted after she heard a loud commotion. She rushed outside with the lighted joint and saw Pierce had been shot. She dropped the joint onto the floor which ignited rum that had spilled there. After Pierce dies and the rest of the study group suffers both psychologically and physically, the Abed of that timeline declares it to be the darkest one ("Remedial Chaos Theory"). The lighter is seen before that when the study group tried to decide who would be Biology lab partners and who would be stuck with Todd. A secret ballot was taken which revealed who was the least and most popular members of the group. Britta used the lighter to try and burn the results but in the process of setting the papers on fire she accidentally burned a turtle that Todd brought to the meeting ("Competitive Ecology").
