In the study group's second year at Greendale Community College, Dean Pelton throws a Halloween bash at the library. In order to keep costs down, he skimps on some of the party supplies like using his own MP3 player to provide the music and purchasing rations from an army surplus store. One of the rations Pelton mistook for taco meat was mysteriously labelled "Classified Phoenix" and ended up causing any student who ate it to get sick. When Annie and Dr. Rich try to warn the others about the infection, the song "Dancing Queen" was playing in the background. Unfortunately, the warning came too late when Leonard very publicly reveals himself to be infected and creates a panic among the party goers. "Dancing Queen" was first heard in the Season Two episode "Epidemiology."

The song's lyrics[]

Lyrics:

You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life

See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen

Friday night and the lights are low

Looking out for the place to go

Where they play the right music, getting in the swing

You come in to look for a king

Anybody could be that guy

Night is young and the music's high

With a bit of rock music, everything is fine

You're in the mood for a dance

And when you get the chance...

You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen

Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine

You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life

See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen

You're a teaser, you turn 'em on

Leave them burning and then you're gone

Looking out for another, anyone will do

You're in the mood for a dance

And when you get the chance...

You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen

Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine

You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life

See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen

Originally conceived of as a dance song, it had the working title "Boogaloo." It was ABBA manager Stig Anderson who suggested the name change to "Dancing Queen." It was first released in 1976 and became a worldwide hit on international music charts. In America, it was the only song from ABBA to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
