It could have been just another sitcom. I didn’t know, when I got the job, how amazing it would be. So, just the friendship and the unique experience of feeling so proud of something that you’re a part of. Just feeling like, wow, I lucked into something really great.

Gillian Jacobs is an American actress who portrays Britta Perry on Community. On October 19, 1982, Jacobs was born to Martina Magenau Jacobs and William F. Jacobs Jr. in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A mixture of Irish, Scottish, German, and French heritage, she grew up in the suburb of Mt. Lebanon. She took her first acting class at age eight and while growing up, she studied at the Pittsburgh Playhouse on weekends. As a member of the Pittsburgh Public Theater, she was cast in a production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream." After graduating from high school in 2000, she applied to acting programs at Carnegie Mellon (where her mother worked in alumni affairs) and Julliard, as well as Harvard. She was accepted into all three programs but ultimately decided to study at the Julliard School in New York City. She graduated in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in acting and in 2006 starred in several off-Broadway productions. Jacobs also found roles on several television shows including "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and "The Good Wife." She also appeared in films such as "Gardens of the Night" (2008) and "The Box" (2009). After "Community" ended, she would go on to star in the Netflix romantic comedy series "Love".
