Greendale babies will be right back, forever!
— Baby Abed

In the study group's fourth year at Greendale, and Jeff is set to graduate once the semester is over. Abed is in therapy with Britta, worried that this might mean the end of the study group and all their friendships. Britta suggests that anytime he feels such anxiety that he go to a "Happy place", a serene and tranquil world in his mind to calm his nerves. For Abed this takes the form in his subconscious of a TV sitcom (complete with laugh track) of his life. While in his "Happy place" he is caught in a stressful situation, and he goes to another level "Happy place", this time a cartoon animated series called "Greendale Babies", which includes its own theme song. The "Greendale Babies" theme song was first heard in the Season Four premiere episode "History 101".

The song[]

Greendale babies
We’re happy and we’re free
Greendale babies
Fun for you and me
Greendale babies forever

The Greendale Babies animated portion of Abed's happy place is an homage to the popular 1980's CBS Saturday morning cartoon "Muppet Babies". The show featured infant versions of Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and their friends using their imagination to have various fantasy adventures. The show was critically acclaimed, garnering several Daytime Emmy Awards nominations and winning several times for Outstanding Animated Program. It ran for seven years from September 15, 1984 to November 2, 1991. Muppet_Babies_Intro
