|Mariah was a librarian at Greendale Community College. She caught the eye of both Troy and Abed who decided to respectfully compete for her affections. Her first and so far only appearance was in the Season Two episode "Early 21st Century Romanticism". She is portrayed by actress Maite Shwartz.|
|In 2011, Mariah found herself being romantically pursued by two students in February of the study group's second year at Greendale, Troy Barnes and Abed Nadir. Initially they would stare at her while she was behind her desk and make noises so she would look at her direction. Eventually they took the direct approach and Troy and Abed came to her with briefcase and a proposal. They simultaneously asked her to the Valentine's Dance which flattered Mariah who admitted that this was the cutest thing that ever happened to her. However, she was unable to choose as she didn't know either one of them. They then asked if she would attend the Valentine's Day dance with both of them, get to know them better, and then decide who she'd rather be with.
|Mariah agreed and is amused when she learned the briefcase was filled with tacos Troy and Abed planned on eating later. That night in the North Cafeteria, Troy and Abed respectfully presented their arguments to Mariah. Abed told her about all the premium movie channels he had from HBO to Start. For his part Troy showed off a few impressive dance moves as Abed cheered him on. Later Abed gave Mariah his detailed analysis of the "Saw" franchise. When it came time to choose Mariah sent Abed off to get them all some punch. She told Troy that they are cute together and started to apologize for her choice. Troy assured her that they will be fine with whomever she chose as they were the ones who suggested this in the first place.
|Mariah told Troy that she chose him just as Abed returns with their drinks. Troy broke the news to Abed who accepted the decision with aplomb. He thanked Mariah and wished the two a good night before leaving. Later, Mariah slow danced with a troubled Troy who bluntly asked her what was wrong with Abed. She told him she was a bit put off by his love of films and that while she would love to be his friend, romantically she found him to be too weird. Troy left her on the dance floor angered by her opinion of Abed. As she exited the cafeteria she passed by Troy who was hugging Abed. Troy loudly told his best friend to ignore her and she sheepishly walked past the two of them as they continued their embrace ("Early 21st Century Romanticism").
