|In the study group's first year together at Greendale, a Paintball Assassin game was held at school. The school provided them with paintball guns and ammo with a prize to be determined later. Although at first the study group was not eager to participate in the Paintball tournament, once Dean Pelton announced that the prize was Priority registration they quickly changed their mind. The paintball guns were first seen in the Season One episode "Modern Warfare". They made a return appearance in the 2 part Season Two finale "A Fistful of Paintballs", "For A Few Paintballs More" and Season Six episode "Modern Espionage". In real life the paintball guns are manufactured by Tippman.|
|The study group, sans Jeff, obtained all their paintball guns and ammo and quickly joined in the game. Jeff, who had slept through the first hour of the competition, acquired Leonard's green colored gun after he had been eliminated by Abed. Afterwards the study group was reunited but the members were eliminated by other participants until only Jeff and Britta remained. Ben Chang was sent in by Dean Pelton as a ringer to prevent anyone from winning the prize. He engaged Britta in a one-on-one duel using gold painted paintball guns and they ended up eliminating each other. Jeff won by default and armed with Chang's paintball gun, went to the Dean's office to claim his prize. He decimated Pelton's office with the automatic rifle and then shot the Dean with a concealed paintball gun taped to his back ("Modern Warfare").
|A second paintball tournament was sponsored by Pistol Patty's Cowboy Creamery. This time, the game had a western theme and paintball pistols were used in place of the paintball guns from last year. The winner was to receive $100,000 and the students once again trashed the campus to win the prize. With paintball ammo supplies dwindling, the study group finds a cache of last year's previous paintball gun's and paraphernalia in Dean Pelton's office ("A Fistful of Paintballs"). When the true sponsor of the game is revealed to be Dean Spreck from City College, the remaining Greendale participants of the game band together in an alliance to face off against the invading City College Storm Troopers. Abandoning the pistols, they use the paintball guns found in Pelton's office for the remainder of the conflict ("For A Few Paintballs More").
|During the 2014 - 2015 semester at Greendale, paintball was banned by the new administrative advisor Frankie Dart. In response an underground contest was formed which the Save Greendale Committee found out was connected to City College. They were again covertly financing the game but this time they had inside help. Greendale's custodial staff was in on it led by Lapari who was actively participating as a player known as "Silverballz". News of his clandestine involvement was made public during a gala event ironically being held in his honor. An impromptu paintball battle erupted leaving only Lapari, Jeff and Dean Pelton the game's finalists. The Mexican stand off between the three men resulted in a tie game when the trio ended up eliminating each other ("Modern Espionage").
Tippmann TPX Paintball PistolEdit
|The paintball guns used on Community were modified Tippmann TPX paintball pistols. It's is a .68 caliber marker, and considered one of the smallest and lightest guns around. It has an 8-round magazine and runs off of a single 12g CO2 cartridge which is stored under the barrel. Each CO2 cartridge contains around 25-30 shots and a quick ejection cartridge system allows the quick reloading of the weapon. On Community, the paintball guns were repainted a variety of bright neon colors but in real life are only available in black or tan. These guns would later again be re-modified for use in the Season Four finale "Advanced Introduction to Finality" as the Darkest Timeline paintball guns. The Tippmann TPX Paintball Pistol generally retails for a little over $200.
